Privacy policy

The short version

Stiffed does not require an account. The current native apps do not include advertising or analytics SDKs, and Stiffed does not receive your receipts, guest names, check details, or payment handles. That information stays in the app’s local storage unless you choose to share it.

Information stored on your device

• Check names, guest names, receipt line items, prices, tax, tip, and claim assignments.
• Receipt photos you take or select for a check.
• Optional Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle payment details you save in the app.
• Whether each guest is unpaid or paid.

This information is used to calculate and display each person’s share, preserve your local history, reuse your saved payment options across checks, prepare payment instructions, and show what remains unpaid.

Camera, photos, and receipt recognition

Camera access is used only when you choose to photograph a receipt. Photo library access is used only when you choose a receipt image. Receipt recognition runs on your device. Stiffed does not upload receipt images or recognized text to its own servers.

Sharing and payment details

Stiffed prepares text for the system share sheet only when you ask it to. The service or person you choose to share with receives the text you selected. Payment handles are instructions for guests. Stiffed does not initiate, process, verify, or monitor payments.

Platform and payment services

Stiffed has no in-app purchases and does not receive payment card or bank credentials. Apple, Google, your device maker, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, and any app you share to may process information under their own privacy policies.

Retention and deletion

Your checks and receipt images remain on your device until you delete a check or remove the app. You can delete each saved check from the recent checks list. Your operating system or a backup service you enabled may retain a device backup according to its own settings and retention rules. Stiffed has no user account or server copy to delete.

Children

Stiffed is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
