Using Stiffed
Stiffed gives you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the apps and, if you buy Pro, the hosted live-check service for lawful restaurant check splitting. You may not resell, disrupt, scrape live-check links, impersonate a guest, or use Stiffed to violate another person’s rights.
Check the check
Receipt recognition and calculations can be affected by image quality, unusual formats, edits, or incorrect input. Review lines, prices, tax, tip, assignments, totals, and payment recipients before relying on or sharing them. You are responsible for the amounts you request or pay.
Accounts, invitations, and your content
An organizer account is required to publish. You must have permission to publish the itemized check and guest names. One live QR code or join link may be shared with the intended group. Anyone with that link can view the structured check, choose or add a guest while sharing is open, and make claims as that guest. Guests do not need Pro, an account, or the app.
You keep your rights in the dinner details and receipt image you publish. You give Stiffed a limited license to privately host and transmit that content so the live table can work and the signed-in organizer can recover the check on another Pro device. Guests receive the itemized check, not the receipt image.
Payments between people
Stiffed prepares totals and payment instructions. It does not hold money, initiate transfers, confirm payment, collect debts, or act as a bank or money transmitter. Payment apps and banks are independent. Marking someone paid is your bookkeeping, not a verified transfer.
Free app and Stiffed Pro
The local dinner flow is free and works without an account. Pro is a $14.99 USD one-time purchase from the Apple App Store or Google Play. It is not a subscription and has no free trial. Pro lets the organizer publish one live check that guests join by QR code or link, collaborate from the app or browser, and recover published checks on the platform that sold Pro. Guests are not charged.
Apple and Google handle billing, taxes, refunds, and purchase restoration under their terms. A purchase on one store does not unlock the other. Apple Family Sharing follows Apple’s eligibility rules. Google Play in-app purchases are not eligible for Family Library. A voluntary Venmo tip supports development and never grants Pro.
If a purchase is refunded or revoked, you cannot publish a new live check after Stiffed refreshes the store entitlement. A check that was already published remains available until you stop sharing it, delete it, or complete account deletion.
Availability and changes
Hosted features require a network and may pause for maintenance, abuse control, or a serious fault. Stiffed is provided on an “as available” basis. We will not silently turn a sold one-time purchase into a subscription. Features and new-purchase pricing may change, subject to rights that local law gives you.
Responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stiffed is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses caused by incorrect input, receipt recognition, shared payment details, third-party payment services, or unavailable features. A limitation does not apply where local law does not allow it.
Ending use and contact
You can delete local checks at any time. You can use Stop sharing to remove the online copy while keeping the local check, delete the full check, or request account deletion in the app. We may suspend access that creates a security risk, breaks these terms, or must be stopped by law.
